Arsenal will never have a better chance to win the league than they have this season and it makes this January window absolutely crucial for the club.

Where they usually are sitting cosily in third or fourth at this time, Arsenal are, rightly, title favourites and should be expecting their club to be crowned champions in May.

However, Wenger’s lack of transfer activity in January transfer windows is a concern if the club are going to push on in both domestic and European football in 2016.

As the squad is ravaged by injuries once more, Wenger really needs to add one or two players in this window to make sure they have the depth for the second half of the season.

So many might expect a striker to be added, to support Olivier Giroud, but its hard to look past the barman central midfield area if Wenger is to be active in the transfer market.

Here are FIVE reasons that Adrien Rabiot could well be the man the Gunners need..

Jack Wheelchair

Jokes aside, Jack Wilshere is unfit such a large proportion of the time that he hardly warrants his squad number.

Arsenal will continue to persist with him as an ‘option’ in their squad, but they need to be realistic about his true availability and Rabiot seems an ideal longer term replacement.

If Wilshere does regain fitness, great, but Rabiot would still have a role to play in the squad from a deeper position.

Vets out the door

It seems to be increasingly likely that Arteta and Flamini will leave the club in the summer and, although they don’t play much, it will be of huge benefit to the club if they could replace the two veterans with a younger model.

Rabiot has the potential to far exceed either Arteta or Flamini, but the PSG man would at least give the squad a bit more depth.

Wenger’s disgusting penchant for pushing Aaron Ramsey onto the wing may infuriate us all, but it, most annoyingly, leaves Arsenal a bit short in the central areas.

As Cazorla ages, Arsenal need to have another central option if Wenger is going to persist with Ramsey in some sort of bizarre false wide right role.

4-3-3 throwback

Wenger can be tactically stubborn, as we all know, but signing Rabiot would give Wenger extra options in central midfield to go back to a 4-3-3 if Mesut Ozil is unavailable.

It might seem unlikely, but Wenger may need the extra midfield stability if Arsenal are going to push on in Europe and Rabiot would balance a 3 man midfield nicely with Ramsey and Coquelin.

He’s a bit good..

Adrien Rabiot, Paris Saint-Germain

Possibly the best reason to try and sign Rabiot, is that he is really good at football.

The Frenchman has been short of chances at PSG, but he still retains that undoubtedly high potential and it has taken one of the best midfielders in the world to keep him out of the line-up – Marco Verratti.

It would be foolish to miss out on such a class act.
